Since we presented his work last year, the artist’s career has led him to exhibit in different prominent spaces in Asia and Europe as well as being awarded several prizes for his work.
Choi’s passion lies in capturing the raw emotions and intricate relationships between individuals. His work delves into the human psyche, seeking to embody contrasting feelings like solitude and warmth within the frame of his photographs. With a dedication to preserving authenticity, he avoids the use of excessive editing or artificial embellishments, aiming for the most genuine portrayal of his subjects.
The essence of each moment he captures is brought to life through a vibrant palette of colors, reminiscent of the artistic strokes found in paintings. His photographs, akin to the works of impressionist painters from the late 19th century, transport viewers into a realm where emotion transcends the boundaries of the image.
Through his art, Choi skillfully transports the observer into a realm where love and loss intertwine, sparking profound reflections. Even when viewed on the small screen of a phone, his photography manages to captivate its audience, urging them to ponder the intricate complexities of the human experience.
