About

Lives and works in Madrid, Spain

«Embracing repetition as an integral part of the creative process is essential. For many artists, repetition isn’t just a technique; it’s the essence of creation itself. Engaging in recurrence is parallel to a form of deep concentration, almost meditative, for both the creator and the observer of the artwork. It challenges the notion of the solitary, spontaneous genius that infuses our understanding of creativity. Instead, it highlights the significance of everyday processes, bringing art closer to our ordinary experiences rather than viewing it as something bizarre or abnormal.

Maria Yelletisch’s masterpieces are a profound exploration of reverberation as a gateway to transcendence, flawlessly weaving elements of nature, light, memory, and emotion into her works.
Through her deeply personal lens, Yelletisch delves into the meditative power of recurrence, drawing correspondences between the rhythm of nature and the contemplative state it suggests.
In her practice, Maria Yelletisch immerses herself in the boundless reprises found in the natural world, where each iteration maintains its individuality yet contributes to the collective harmony. This thematic thread extends into her urban landscapes, where memories intertwine with sensory experiences, forming what she exquisitely terms as ‘safe places,’ havens of connection and solace.

As Deleuze put it, when we concentrate on repetition to the point of obsession, we find exciting ‘small
differences.’ For Deleuze, relapse is not simply the mechanical reproduction of past events, but rather
a creative and dynamic process that generates new possibilities and meanings. It is,perhaps, all about
the concept that we spend most of the time passing from thing or task to the next, without pausing.
Thus, Yelletisch explores this moto to challenging the traditional notion of echo as mere imitation,
advocating instead for a deeper understanding of how duplication can serve as a driver of innovation,
experiencing and witnessing.

Yelletisch’s latest series embarks on a journey through romantic landscapes, each painting a
reflection of her tranquil pauses captured in memory and color. Through the reiteration of elements,
she creates a narrative of serenity and exploration, inviting viewers to venture into the immersive
realms she constructs.
Central to Yelletisch’s practice is her adept manipulation of color and light, a skill honed through meticulous observation and selection. Her paintings exude a vibrant energy, as she deftly captures the hues of her surroundings and infuses them with the warmth of recollection.
In witnessing Yelletisch’s works, viewers are invited to transcend the boundaries between observer and participant, immersing themselves in the delicate dance of reappearance and variation. Through her art, she guides us towards a deeper understanding of our connection to nature, memory, and the spaces we inhabit, ultimately offering a sanctuary for contemplation and renewal.

Through her art, Maria Yelletisch invites us to dance in the eternal symphony of repetition, where
each turn brings us closer to renewal, to the soft midday light.
