Meditating over “the new normal” concept, Alzueta gallery is pleased to present its second On & Off Exhibition, a concept that seeks to play with how the online and offline worlds merge in order to show art in a clear and new way, more connected to our present reality.
Highlighting the conceptual meanings and needs of showing art in a digital way, On & Off Exhibition is a project that studies how an art exhibition needs to be translated from a brick & mortar space into a digital show.
Every month we will hold an exhibition by one of our artists, that will be put together in our gallery spaces, but meant to be enjoyed online. On this occasion our artist Fournier Bertrand will exhibit his new Oil on Canvas works at our gallery in Barcelona during the last week of July and the first week of September. The show, meant to be exhibited in a digital format, though Instagram, Artsy and our online platforms, will be a custom made immersive online experience visible through our online platforms, during the whole month of August.
The work by Bertrand Fournier shows the artist’s interest in the importance of the colour and organization of shapes and visual elements on the composition of a painting. His minimal, yet powerful artworks are an ode to the simple geometric shapes that can lead to visually rich and vibrant artworks.
This series of work meditates over the past few months in lockdown, the paintings portrait typical home scenes during the confinement, showing the personages laying down just meditating or studying from home, to then show more joyful emotions as the confinement was ending and the artist and his family were able to go out again and experience life from a new perspective.
Even if this line of work is in the border line between figuration and abstraction, the artist continues to follow the idea of the importance of every line and shape in his compositions, creating over clean monochromatic surfaces a very personal and recognizable visual language very aligned with the world of graphic design.
